Today hubby and I had a couple of hours free while the twins were in nursery. We had some light relief from the stresses of life by going to see Gnomeo and Juliet... an entertaining and cute film. Afterwards we had some time to spare so I could go and get my picture for the day! As it was a reasonable day (although somewhat hazy, at least it was dry and you could see some blue above the haze!) I decided to try and capture this local(ish) landmark... the old gatehouse to a country mansion. I have given it the HDR treatment!

  3. Hey Jeni... It may help to look here:

I just love the effect it has. You can make it quite drastic or you can make it look very natural/simple. For my class I took several pictures of the same thing, at different exposures, very quickly (there's a setting on most digital SLR's (bracketing) that allows you to do this) but I have also tried it on a single image that I have... making two copies, and drastically under exposing one, and over exposing another, and then running it through the software. I used Photomatix pro... and have a trial of it, downloaded from the internet, which is neverending. Hence the 'watermark' across my images. Obviously, if I pay my images would be without the watermark, but I am still just playing at the moment!! Hope that all makes sense. xxx
